Shantipur: 4th November, 2018 – Anupam Sarkar, a resident of Santipur Nadia, registered his name in the Guinness Book of World Records by making 1819 feet 7.32 Inch tall staple chain using 71,500 staple pins. 

32 yrs old Anupam, a resident of Gobindapur area of ​​Shantipur in Nadia district, is a professional television anchor and standing comedian, who also works as a dubbing artist for cartoon films. From childhood days Anupam wanted to do something so that his works get recognized around the world. And finally his dream came true.

“My main objective was to make an impression beyond my profession. But, cost was an issue to me. I decided to something special in an affordable price. So I started searching something which could be compatible to my plan. My search ended when I heard about Khandaker Shihab Ahmed of Bangladesh who in 2007 had first got a Guinness entry by making a 182.73 meter long staple chain by spending just about Rupees Two hundred. I started working on a similar endeavor and eventually came to know that Mackenzie Martin of United States broke his record in 2016” Anupam said. Martin, a resident of Wentzville, got an entry to the Guinness by making a 352.67 meter long staple chain on June 14, 2016.

Anupam, made an appeal to the Guinness Book authorities to allow him to show his talent. Accepting the appeal, the Guinness authorities in April asked him to display his creation by July 1st .

For the past three months Anupam has been working tirelessly for over 15-hours a day to achieve his target of making a 550 meter long ‘staple pin chain’ by July 1 as per his claim when he would display his creation in front of administrative officials and people in Shantipur town.

“I am really grateful to my family and the people of Shantipur. They continuously supported me in this. Specifically I would like to thank Mr. Debabrata Roy (Cricketer of The Physically Disabled Indian Cricket Team), Mr. Abhijit Pramanik (Surveyor Engineer), Shilpa Sanyasi (Survey Assistant), BDO Shantipur – Mr. Suman Debnath, Circle Inspector – Mr. Jayanta Lodh Choudhury, ADO – Sandip Mitra, Superintendent Shantipur State General Hospital – Mr. Jayanta Biswas, Income Tax Lawyer – Mr. Rajat Kumar Banerjee and Special guest Mr. Ujjal Biswas (Minister for correctional administration in the Government of West Bengal)” Anupam said to Googly365.

This work, which started on April 9, 2018, ends on 1st July. The chain using 10-millimeter-size small pins has been created by an empty hand, which is really unmatched with a length of 1819 feet 7.32 Inch. 

He said, “I have named this chain as “Sampreeti Chain” (Harmony Chain). I want to give the message that if the people of the entire nation are connected together peacefully and stand by each other regardless of race and religion… “
